FAQs
How far do you travel?
I offer private midwifery care for women living in Sydney’s Eastern Suburbs, Central Sydney, Inner West, and South to within 15 minutes of St George Hospital with home visits available within a 30-minute travel radius from my home base (subject to availability and on-call commitments).
Not sure if your within range? Message me and I can confirm quickly.
Who do you work with?
Private midwives work in collaboration, with each other, and also with wider medical and allied health teams, and alternative health care practitioners, so your care stays coordinated and safe as things evolve.
I also work closely with your nearest local hospital (and, once confirmed, the Royal Hospital for Women) to coordinate your care when consultation and shared care planning is the safest option. That means you’re not navigating the system alone, you have a midwife wo knows you, keeps the communication moving, and helps your preferences stay visible.
For homebirth, two midwives attend your birth. Once you book, I organise your second midwife early from a trusted network of registered midwives. Wherever possible, you’ll meet her during pregnancy, so when labour begins you’re supported by two calm, competent clinicians who know the plan and can care for both you and baby with confidence.
Investment + what’s included?
I bulk-bill all antenatal and postnatal visits (so your antenatal and postnatal care is Medicare-covered where eligible). There is currently no Medicare rebate for labour and birth services.
What you’re actually paying for
Not just appointments — known care, start to finish.
A small caseload so I have time to focus on you
24/7 phone support so you can reach me when you need me
Home visits for every antenatal appointment (travel included)
Your midwife with you through labour and birth, not a rotating roster
Six weeks postpartum in your home with real-world support for feeding, recovery, and newborn life
A birth pool for homebirth or early labour comfort
A second midwife at your homebirth for extra safety and support
Consumables covered so the practical bits are handled
Full Package Fee - $6,500 (After Medicare Bulk Billing)
If you don’t have a Medicare number, there is an additional $1,500 fee
How many women do you take a month?
I keep my caseload intentionally small — usually 3–4 families per month, depending on the complexity of care and my leave plans for the year. That’s what allows me to offer the kind of calm, steady, truly known care most women are looking for.
Because spaces are limited, they often book out early (commonly by 7–8 weeks). If you’re even considering private midwifery, it’s worth reaching out sooner rather than later.
And if you’re considering changing care providers later in pregnancy, please still get in touch. I sometimes have an opening, and your instincts matter!
What happens if unexpectedly you can’t attend my birth?
In the unlikely event I am unwell or have a birth clash, I will arrange for a wonderful and experienced midwife to come to you to provide care until I am available.
Where can I get further information about home birth?
Check out Homebirth Australia and Homebirth NSW webpages – these have excellent resources about the evidence around homebirth.
I have risk factors – can I have a private midwife?
Do you take on “high-risk” clients?
Yes, if you’re looking for private midwifery continuity of care, I’m very open to supporting you.
Depending on your medical history and what comes up in pregnancy, the safest plan may involve shared care with your obstetric team and sometimes planning for a hospital birth. My role is to keep your care woman-centred and coordinated, helping you understand your options, supporting informed decisions, and staying steady with you as plans evolve.
If you’re birthing in hospital (planned or as an unexpected transfer), I attend with you and remain by your side to support, advocate, and help your preferences stay visible within the hospital system.Visiting endorsed midwife rights at the Royal Hospital for Women are very close, which will enable me to provide an even fuller scope of birth care there as well so watch this space
